Hyatt Regency Hakone Resort and Spa was a last-minute change to our itinerary as the ryokan we had booked refused to cater for a wheelchair user. The Hyatt is well situated in Hakone, the hotel is set in a beautiful nature space and comprises two buildings, which are interconnected by a walkway. The room is spacious and provides lots of space even with an extra bed placed in the room. There is a nice sofa, a large flatscreen and an indoor balcony with tea and coffee facilities. In the room, there are Yukatas and traditional Japanese outfits for the guests to wear in the room and around the Hotel. The hotel provides aluminium bottles of water that can be refilled in a water dispenser in the hallway. Parking facilities are available and come complimentary. The living room has a lovely chill and nature-inspired feeling with a big fireplace for you to relax. The hotel offers 3 different places for food, catering to Western and Japanese options. There is a hotel shuttle bus available for various destinations in Hakone, the Spa in the hotel provides Onsen for the hotel guests as well as a comprehensive menu of spa treatments. You feel welcomed and taken care of by the Hyatt team during your stay.

Our room was perfect for our family of four-loves the mix of Western and Traditional Japanese. The robes were lovely to lounge around the room in and we enjoyed the room service and buffet breakfast. Staff throughout the hotel were exceptional and language wasn’t too much of a barrier. The Onsen was simple and calming and the locker rooms were super clean and well stocked. Only downside is the location, while serene, is far from activities. We only stayed for one night but I’d staying longer, I think a hotel shuttle to town would be a nice addition. We stayed on the 5th floor and some the carpeting in the hallway was a bit worn and there was some mold in our bathroom (not a huge deal but a simple vent or dehumidifier would solve this issue). The architecture throughout the building is stellar and there are a lot of nice details. We loved our welcome drinks and the baby-friendly cribs and diaper pails. The breakfast buffet was so good-the first perfectly cooked bacon and scrambled eggs we had in Japan. All in all a nice stay and we look forward to returning!

As to be expected from Hyatt this is beautiful hotel with excellent service and facilities. We had a view of the top of Mount Fuji from our room which was really lovely. The room was very spacious and comfortable. I had read a couple of reviews beforehand about getting to the hotel and still thought that me and my husband could get all the way there on public transport as we are both quite fit and we walk a lot. However even we struggled a bit with our suitcases! The roads are very steep around the hotel and many of them don't have proper pavements so I would advise getting a taxi or driving. The hotel arranged a taxi for us to Odawara Station on the way back, which took about 25 mins and wasn't very expensive. We also didn't know that public transport in Hakone seems to stop by 6pm each day, so just be aware of that when making plans for your trip!

This was a nice hotel, our room was spacious and comfortable and we enjoyed relaxing in the room. The staff helped us get to the Hakone Ropeway and gave us information about the route and how to return to the hotel. The hotel also provided free shuttle pick up from the train in Qdowara which was a great help. I did not think to request a return shuttle in advance, so that was not available but instead they arranged a taxi for us which was prompt and comfortable (but on our dime which was fine with us). We also enjoyed the onsen very much. The main reason I chose to go to Hakone was in the hopes of seeing Mt Fuji and the Tori gate in Lake Ashi and we were not disappointed.

We enjoyed our short stay at the Hyatt in Hakone. We really appreciated the shuttle service and never had to wait long. The staff were all extremely friendly and kind. The Onsen was lovely, clean and easy to navigate- the hotel robes and slippers were a nice touch. Our room was very spacious and had a nice view of the mountains. The beds extremely comfortable- we had great sleep, they take their blackout blinds seriously! The breakfast buffet was very impressive and we enjoyed a meal in the dining room and casual living room. The Udon hot pot was delicious!
